Clamps and tape
Stainless steel clamps tighten ducting onto fans, filters and fittings. Noise reduction clamps add a wide neoprene lining that creates an airtight seal and isolates fan vibration from the duct, which removes a common source of hum. Foil tape seals seams and joints permanently.
Dampers and light traps
A backdraft damper is a spring loaded flap inside a duct collar. It opens under airflow and closes when the fan stops, which keeps outside air, odor and pests from drifting back in. A light trap covers a passive vent with a baffle that passes air freely while blocking all light, so rooms can breathe during the dark period.
Duct Clamps, Backdraft Dampers & Light Traps FAQ
Where does a backdraft damper go?
In the exhaust line near the exit point, oriented so the flap opens in the direction of airflow.
Do noise reduction clamps make a difference?
Yes. Much of the noise from an inline fan is vibration passed into the duct, and the neoprene lining isolates it.
What is a light trap?
A vent cover with internal baffles that lets air pass but blocks light, used for intake and passive vents in blackout rooms and greenhouses.
