Rigid reservoirs
Black square reservoirs block light to keep algae out of the solution. White rectangular reservoirs reflect heat and fit under benches and flood tables, and lids are available for the 70 and 100 gallon sizes to cut evaporation and keep debris out.
Collapsible water tanks
Collapsible tanks are made of flexible, heavy duty PVC and fold down for cleaning, transport and storage. Sizes run 13, 26, 60, 105, 132, 200 and 265 gallon, which makes them a practical way to add mixing or holding capacity without a permanent tank.
Water filters
An inline garden filter connects to a hose and reduces chlorine and sediment. The KDF-85 version also reduces chloramine, hydrogen sulfide and certain heavy metals. For commercial volume there is a 9,000 gallon per day reverse osmosis system, available by special order. A reservoir thermometer keeps an eye on solution temperature.
Reservoirs & Water Tanks FAQ
Black or white reservoir?
Black blocks light, which prevents algae. White reflects heat, which helps keep the solution cool. Either works well with a lid.
How large a reservoir do I need?
More volume means slower swings in pH and strength. Plan at least one to two gallons per small plant and five or more per large plant.
Do I need to filter tap water?
If your supply is treated with chlorine or chloramine, an inline filter protects beneficial microbes and gives a cleaner starting point.
