Grommets
A grommet seals tubing or a fitting where it passes through a bucket, reservoir or tray wall. Top hat grommets have a flange that seats against the wall, and circle grommets sit flush. Sizes are 1/4, 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 inch, 25 per pack. A step drill bit from 1/4 to 1-3/8 inch cuts a clean round hole in plastic without cracking it.
Ebb and flow fittings
Fill and drain fittings bolt through the floor of a flood tray. The fill fitting brings solution in from the pump and the overflow fitting sets the maximum flood height. They come in 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch, with risers to raise the flood level, filter screens to keep media out of the reservoir and a complete kit with every part.
Float valves, clamps and adapters
A float valve tops up a reservoir automatically from a supply line and shuts off when the level is reached, with 1/2 inch barbed or 1/4 and 3/8 inch quick connect inlets. Plastic hose clamps and stainless clamps with a butterfly screw tighten by hand from 1/2 inch up to 6 inch. A 3/4 inch spigot adapter fits 5 to 55 gallon drums.
Reservoir Fittings FAQ
What size hole do I drill for a grommet?
Follow the size listed for the grommet, and use a step drill bit so the hole is round and clean. A tight fit is what makes the seal.
How does an ebb and flow fitting set work?
The shorter fitting fills and drains the tray through the pump line. The taller overflow fitting returns solution to the reservoir once the flood height is reached.
What does a float valve do?
It refills the reservoir automatically as the level drops and closes when the water lifts the float.
