Connectors
A straight connector joins two lengths of duct. A Y connector splits or merges airflow smoothly and is the right choice for feeding two filters or two hoods from one fan. A T connector does the same at a right angle. Y connectors come in equal and reducing versions, so the branch sizes are listed in order: main by branch by branch.
Reducers and flanges
A reducer steps between two duct diameters, for example to fit a larger filter to a smaller fan. A duct flange screws to a wall, ceiling or box and gives the duct a collar to clamp onto at a pass through.
Duct Connectors, Reducers & Flanges FAQ
Y connector or T connector?
Use a Y wherever possible. The gentler angle causes less turbulence and loses less airflow than a T.
Can I reduce duct size to fit my fan?
Yes, with a reducer. Place it as close to the fan as possible and avoid reducing more than one size step.
How do I seal duct fittings?
Clamp the duct over the fitting and wrap the joint with foil tape for an airtight seal.
