Why light from below
In a dense canopy the top few inches absorb most of the light, and lower flower sites stay shaded and underdeveloped. Under canopy lighting delivers targeted light to that zone, which promotes more uniform growth and development from top to bottom.
Building a system
Fixtures come in single channel and dual channel versions, where dual channel allows two spectra to be controlled independently. Basic and advanced controllers set intensity and scheduling for a whole run. Daisy chain cables in several lengths link fixtures in series, and standard or stainless stands hold them at the right height off the floor or bench.
Under Canopy Lights FAQ
Does under canopy lighting increase yield?
It is used to improve the development of lower flowers that would otherwise stay small, which raises the usable portion of each plant.
When should under canopy lights run?
During flowering, on the same schedule as the top lights.
What is the difference between single and dual channel?
Dual channel fixtures have two separately controlled sets of diodes, so the spectrum can be adjusted. Single channel fixtures have one.
