Why a dome
Cuttings and seedlings have no roots to replace the water their leaves lose. A dome traps the moisture the tray gives off and keeps humidity high enough that leaves stay turgid until roots form.
Height and vents
Low domes suit seeds and short plugs. Tall 7 inch domes give cuttings and larger plugs room to grow. Vented domes have adjustable openings so humidity can be lowered gradually as plants harden off, which avoids the shock of removing the dome all at once.
Humidity Domes FAQ
When do I remove the dome?
Once roots show and leaves stay firm with the vents fully open, usually 7 to 14 days.
Vented or not?
Vented, unless the room is very dry. Vents make hardening off gradual.
Will a dome fit my tray?
Domes are made for the standard 10 by 20 flat. Square domes fit the cloners and trays listed on the product.
