Sticky cards and tape
Sticky cards are the standard monitoring tool. Hang them at canopy height and check them weekly to catch an infestation while it is still small. Yellow attracts fungus gnats, whiteflies and aphids. Blue attracts thrips. Double sided sticky tape runs the length of a bench or row for continuous coverage.
Moth traps and vaporizers
Hanging cone traps and bucket traps with a pheromone lure draw in moths before they lay eggs, which matters for outdoor and greenhouse crops. A greenhouse vaporizer applies sulfur as a vapor to control powdery mildew.
Insect Traps & Monitoring FAQ
How many sticky traps per room?
One per 100 to 200 square feet for monitoring, more if you are actively trapping.
How often should sticky traps be replaced?
When they are covered or dusty, usually every two to four weeks.
Do sticky traps control an infestation?
They reduce adult numbers and show you what is present, but a real infestation needs treatment as well.
