Choosing a shade percentage
The percentage is how much light the cloth blocks. 30 percent takes the edge off peak summer sun for high light crops. 50 percent is the general purpose choice for cooling a greenhouse. 70 percent suits shade loving plants, nursery stock, patios and livestock, and the grommeted panels install with rope or zip ties.
Color
Black cloth is the most common and gives the truest shade. Dark green blends into a landscape. Beige and light colors reflect more heat and diffuse light, which keeps the space under the cloth cooler and brighter.
Privacy fence
Privacy screen is woven from heavy duty high density polyethylene, with reinforced edges and brass grommets for fastening to chain link or posts. It screens a site from view, cuts wind and stands up to weather season after season.
Shade Cloth & Privacy Fence FAQ
What percentage shade cloth for a greenhouse?
50 percent is the usual starting point for summer cooling. Use 30 percent for crops that need high light.
Does shade cloth lower temperature?
Yes. Blocking part of the sun before it enters the structure can lower inside temperature noticeably, most of all when hung outside the film.
How is privacy screen attached?
With zip ties or wire through the brass grommets along the edges, to chain link or to posts.
