Stakes
Bamboo is the low cost, biodegradable standard, sold in bales by length and diameter. Thicker canes carry more weight. Plastic coated steel stakes do not rot or splinter, last for years and have a textured surface that holds ties in place.
Cages, guides and yo-yos
Foldable plastic cages surround the plant and support it on every side, then fold flat for storage. Plant guides train a stem or a few main branches in the direction you want. Yo-yo hangers hook to an overhead line and hold heavy branches up with a retractable cord that adjusts as the plant grows.
T-posts
Studded steel T-posts with an anchor plate drive into any ground and carry trellis netting, fencing and shade cloth. A post driver sets them safely, and a remover pulls them at season end without bending.
Plant Stakes, Cages & T-Posts FAQ
Bamboo or steel stakes?
Bamboo costs less and suits single season use. Coated steel lasts for years and handles heavier plants.
How tall should a plant stake be?
Allow for the finished height of the plant plus the depth pushed into the pot or ground, usually 6 to 12 inches.
How far apart should T-posts be set for trellis?
8 to 10 feet is typical for netting. Closer spacing keeps the net tighter under a heavy crop.
