Polyethylene mainline and laterals
UV polyethylene tubing carries water from the head of the system to each row. 1 inch and 3/4 inch poly are used for mainlines, and 17mm and 20mm tubing are used for the laterals that drippers punch into. Bright white tubing reflects light and stays cooler than black tubing under grow lights and in direct sun. Rolls run 100 and 500 feet.
Micro tubing and pre-cut whips
5mm polyethylene and 3/16 inch vinyl micro tubing connect each dripper to its stake. Rolls come in 50, 100 and 1,000 feet, and pre-cut 36 inch whips in packs of 25 remove the cutting step on large installs.
Vinyl tubing
Flexible vinyl tubing in 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch and 1 inch inside diameter is used for pump lines, reservoir transfers and short flexible runs. Food grade clear poly tubing is available in 3/16 inch.
Irrigation Tubing FAQ
What size tubing do I need?
Use 3/4 inch or 1 inch poly for the mainline, 17mm or 20mm for laterals and 5mm or 3/16 inch micro tubing from the dripper to the plant. Always match fittings to the stated tubing size.
Why choose white tubing?
White tubing reflects light and absorbs less heat than black tubing, which helps keep irrigation water cooler.
Is 5mm the same as 3/16 inch tubing?
They are sold as equivalents for micro tubing and fit the same barbed drippers and stakes.
